One of my rules for importing vocal tracks into Microsoft Songsmith is that I use whatever the default music style is when the program first starts.
And that is how you end up with a techno version of Oasis’ 1995 hit “Wonderwall.”

After seeing Microsoft's promotional video, the first real Songsmith rendition I heard was "Runnin' with the Songsmith" (which, to be fair, is a challenging song to construct the music around). I then found this series of videos on YouTube, and this one is the best that I've heard so far.
Frankly, Microsoft should have done something like this to promote Songsmith, rather than the promo that they DID shoot. Present it as a research project, talk about the science behind it, then demonstrate how the science works.
I think this one is actually better than the real song.
